When searching for music Smartpunk can be a good source for discovering something new. For each of the CD's they carry they give a small description that can give you an idea of what the music is like. A Bullet For Pretty Boy's first CD Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder was on Smartpunk which is how I discovered them. Revision:Revise makes large strides from Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder. In general, the sound/production quality is way better and the album sounds more polished. Revision:Revise's songs have a much more dense, full bodied sound, which at times may be slightly overwhelming. There seems to be a trade off between the two albums and which is better is up to the listener. This trade off may stem from the time spent to make the album or potential member changes. However, both albums have their strengths, but I'm leaning more towards Revision:Revise. The album is undoubtably heavier which is a huge plus in my book, but lacks the soaring vocals of the first CD. There are no shortage of effects on this CD especially in the vocal category. They take full advantage of the electronic vocal mainpulation, which I am also a fan of, but at the same time bands that use this cannot execute this effect during a live show. In addition, most of the songs have symphonic elements that help create that feeling of density. This album is good because its consistent and has a handful of awesome songs. The more I listen to it the more it grows on me. While Revision:Revise is an improvement I look forward to their next album because I think they are capable of creating an album where all the songs are great.
