I've had my Last.fm account for years and I just now started taking advantage of it.  I can't believe I have waited until now.   The website makes it so easy to find new artists through searches based on bands/artists you currently like.  I found  Kingdom Of Giants through a search for artists similar to Dead Silence Hides My Cries.  California has always been a hotbed of the music scene and has produced some promising new young artists.  Upon reading more about Kingdom Of Giants I found they formerly known as Hello Sailor, but recently changed their name and their vocalist.  The name is definitely an upgrade and I can't say much about their old vocalist, but the new one definitely has a range that could be coveted by others.  The cover art for their EP was done by Dan Mumford. His artwork is just as sick as ever and his resume includes, just to name a few, Scarlett O'hara, A Day To Remember, and Parkway Drive.  I was slightly thrown off by the cover art, expecting this band to be ridiculously brown note, heavier than the building you live in heavy.  They served up a big bowl of surprise. Although they deliver on the heavy end of the spectrum with relentless breakdowns, chugging, and blast beats their lighter parts are almost reminiscent of pop punk and it is refreshing.  The clean vocals are great, unique, and show some serious promise.  I would say they are somewhere between Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens and Christian Guerrero of Bedlight For Blue Eyes.  Aside from the heaviness presented at full force my favorite part of their music is the relationship of the screamed and clean vocals.  They are used to contrast each, but where they truly succeed is in their ability to work in harmony.  All the instrumentation and vocals on each song pack a punch and I'm sure labels have their eyes on them.   I'm getting the same feeling of excitement from these guys that I got when  first found Miss May I (before they were even signed, yeah i just said it, name drop all day).  This EP is awesome listen at full volume and don't be afraid to piss your neighbors off, they will most likely wet themselves when they hear this.
