Iwatchedherdie: "The Ill Effects Of Hope"

I remember seeing this band featured in AltPress a long time ago. They short snippet informing me of them did enough to get me interested, but not enough to seal the deal. I found their Myspace and began listening, but I must not have given them a fair chance because I just listened to their CD for the first time in years probably and I wasted time not listening. Moments ago I checked their Myspace to see if they were up to anything because as we know these days the life and attention span of most bands and people today are severely short. Apparently, they changed their name and have reformed into The Artifact (http://www.myspace.com/theartifactmusic). I can't say much about their new music having not listened, but The Ill Effects Of Hope has some great songs. Nothing in particular stands out aside from the keys that make a surprise appearance every now and again. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because the rest of the instrumentation meshes so well together and the harmony they create is enjoyable. The keys create juxtaposition against catchy guitar riffs that will have you replaying certain songs more than others. The CD is pretty standard and is delivered in a way that will at least have your feet moving to the kick drum. For all you Metalcore fans out there its worth the listen and make you you check out their new music!
